We will be providing the McGill Conservation, Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour Group with an iteration of the Zero to Hero series.
What is R
R is a free and open source computer language.
It allows you to manipulate data, conduct statistical analysis and produce publication ready graphical interpretations of your data (plots).
It offers an alternative to many commercially available packages (eg. SPSS, Sigma Plot, SAS...).
As a language, it requires users to input text commands which can be daunting at first, hence our workshops. Many would-be-R-users are scared away by the blank "The Matrix" worthy screen awaiting their input when you first open R. With our help, you will rapidly see that inputing commands beats using your mouse for statistical analysis (for ease of use and power).
